Pointe Dufour or/and Nordend

March to June 2025 // Valais, CH
The highest point of Switzerland, 4,634m

Join me for a ski-mountaineering tour to the lofty Dufourspitze, the highest peak in Switzerland. Named after General Guillaume Henri Dufour, this summit at 4634 meters reigns the Monte Rosa massif, and offers mountaineers a breathtaking panoramic view stretching across the Alps and beyond. The Dufourspitze is often considered as the second highest independent peak of the Alps.

Ascent via Breithorn – Schwarze Gletscher or Theodul Gletscher to the Monte Rosa hut on day one.
Early start towards the summit on day two. And then the downhill adventure & fun begins – skiing. For the summit ascent via the west ridge, you will climb in your ski shoes on crampons in grade III difficulty over an exposed rock ridge and descend same way back to the ski depot.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Kleinmatterhorn (3883m) – Breithorn (4164m) – Schwarztor (3722m) – Monte-Rosa-Hütte (2883m)
Day 2: Monte-Rosa-Hütte (2883m) – Dufourspitze (4634m)/Nordend (4608m) – Monte-Rosa-Hütte (2883m)
Day 3: Monte-Rosa-Hütte (2883m) – Cima di Jazzi (3792m) – Grünsee/Gant (2222m)

Note: The ascent of the Dufourspitze is a long and physically demanding high-altitude ski tour, set in a technically demanding alpine playground. As such, prior experience in ski-mountaineering is required.
