Waterfall Ice Climbing – Beginners’ course

Get ready for an awesome adventure! This course is all about learning how to climb icy waterfalls.
Come along and learn how to use ice axes and crampons, the fundamentals of ice axe techniques and how to efficiently move on icy surfaces, learn safety protocols, and gain the confidence to tackle your first icy walls.

This course is an excellent preparation for those planning to climb the Matterhorn in the future.

We’ll be heading to one of the following locations: Dolomites, Graubünden, Aosta Valley, or Valais. You’ll experience the untouched beauty of icy landscapes, plus, relax in the evenings with delicious food and sauna sessions. Join me and discover how amazing ice climbing can be.


Required skills:
– Basic proficiency in rock climbing and mountaineering
– Rock climbing minimum level 5a
– Basic rock climbing safety techniques and avalanche transceiver search
– Resilience to winter alpinism and harsh conditions
– Ability to walk with snowshoes (approximately 1 hour)

Organisational details:
– Group size: 1 – 5 participants
– Accommodation: comfortable hotel (single or shared rooms), half board
– Travel: your travel plans are individual and flexible, location can be reached by public transport
– Guidance: led by an experienced IVBV / UIAGM mountain guide
– Duration: 4 days course, joining for a day only is an option

Course Pricing:
– 4 days course & guiding fee: CHF 3,500
– Participant(s) rates: one participant CHF 3,500; two participants CHF 1,800 each; three participants CHF 1,300 each; four participants CHF 1,000 each; five participants CHF 850 each
– Note: Accommodation and travel expenses are not included in the course fees
