December 2025 – February 2026 // Zermatt, CH

Close out the year on frozen waterfalls in the Swiss Alps. This retreat is designed for climbers at any level—whether you’re stepping onto ice for the first time or looking to push your skills on steeper, more technical terrain.
For Beginners
We’ll start with the fundamentals: how to move confidently with crampons, use ice axes effectively, and navigate icy surfaces. You’ll build a solid foundation before progressing to vertical ice.
For Advanced Climbers
Refine your technique on demanding routes. We’ll focus on efficient tool placements, precise footwork, and advanced rope systems. Each route brings its own character and challenges—perfect for dialing in your skills.
Beyond the Ice Between climbing days, Zermatt offers everything you’d want from a winter mountain village: good food, alpine atmosphere, and a chance to unwind after long days on the ice.
Alternative destinations Val d’Anniviers, Val d’Hérémence, and/or Saastal.

COURSE DETAILS:
Day 1: We’ll meet at the village and follow a hidden path by a small river to reach our first climbing spot, offering different lines to begin with. We’ll start by learning the ice climbing techniques, how to use crampons and climb in different ways, parallel and diagonal. Once we feel comfortable, we’ll move on to placing ice screws and making Abalakov anchors.
Day 2 (and 3): We’ll hike a bit higher up to reach a stunning waterfall with multiple sections, of a three to four pitches high. We’ll practice what we’ve learned on the first day and then shift our focus to multipitch climbing. We will master belaying techniques, building secure stations with ice screws, and climb up to the top of the waterfall.
